Zephyr Pfotenhauer is a graphic artist, writer and illustrator living in Portland, Oregon with her teen son and two cats. Born and raised in Santa Cruz, California during the 1980's & 90's, Zephyr moved to London in 2001 to pursue a formal arts education (BA of Fine Art at Middlesex University, 2005).
After graduation she spent a year with a boyfriend in Zürich, working as an au pair for two families with a combined seven children before moving back to the USA for a Master’s degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (Visual and Critical Studies, 2008). VCS is a department situated at the intersection of art theory and studio practice, an interdisciplinary point of view that still informs much of Zephyr’s work today. She has lived in Southeast Portland since the summer of 2021.
