About the Exhibit
The title “Bon Sequitur” refers, punnily, to the non-sequential nature of the Tarot, its randomness by design — a good thing.
Bon Sequitur is an original Tarot deck created over three years by artist and illustrator Zephyr Pfotenhauer following the sudden death of her partner Ben in July of 2020.
Each card was designed in three transparent color layers of cyan, yellow and magenta, using the language and process of silkscreen printing to create rich, brightly colored and slightly off-set images in an indelible palette. The process of drawing the cards — each one pulled from a favorite deck at random — echoed that of a personal Tarot reading and became a years-long meditation on love, loss and the incorporation of archetypal stories into one’s personal experience.
