a photography exhibit by Ron Kaplan
October 1 - December 30, 2019
Artist reception: Saturday, October 5th, 5 - 7pm
Artist talk: Sunday, November 17, 3 - 4 pm
Over the years Ron Kaplan has had a few careers: lawyer; contractor; student chef; lawyer again; and winery owner. Throughout that time he always has been a photographer. In fact, Ron has been taking pictures for sixty years or so, ever since his grandfather gave him his first camera, an Agfa Plenax PB 20, a bellows camera that was pretty old even back then. He had darkrooms for both color and black and white for over thirty years, until 1999 when he went totally digital.
Ron has taught Digital Fine Art Printing at Portland Community College and Newspace Center for Photography, and Advanced Printing Techniques at the Art Institute of Portland.
While he works in both color and monochrome, this exhibit is his love song to monochrome.
